Aquatica is a new business and has experienced some start-up problems. My boat was not properly rigged the first time, however, this was discovered by Norm and Darcy when they accompanied me on the maiden voyage of 75 miles from Horseshoe Bay up the Sunshine Coast through the Sechelt Rapids and back down to the head of the Sechelt Inlet. The response to the problems was immediate: Darcy returned to Sechelt, picked up the boat on it’s trailer drove it back to Langley and Norm’s new mechanic, Ryan, re-rigged almost everything the previous mechanic had done and then Norm brought the boat back by ferry to Sechelt and even performed the 20 hr service on the engines at Aquatica’s expense. I did not even have to ask, I was told immediately how they were going to put things right and they did. Needless to say that there have been some changes in there service department over the last few months. You may want to give them another look! My Aquatica experience: They never once made me feel like the boat would not be fixed. Ryan knows his stuff and Norman has stood by his word. End result…..I love the boat. 2003 Monterey 268SC. It was not put into service until 2006 (I found the log book) and only had 162 hours on it. I think it sat unused for a few years and that is why the mechanical issues. It has an awesome aluminum trailer as well. In the end, I feel I got a good boat at market price. The dealer, in this case, took the gamble for the mechanical repairs. Trailer brakes ($900), motor in and out plus parts ($1,200). Raw water pump and Ryan’s time to come to my dock ($???) All in all, I am glad I purchased from Aquatica. I was looked after and never felt I would not be. Even with the cabin leak, if I can’t fix it, I feel confident, they will. I will wait until the busy season is over, as it is not a bad leak. To the Aquatica Team I would give you an 8.5 out of 10 for my experience in buying a used boat from you.
